Kosovo’s judicial system exists to serve the public interest. Kosovo’s judicial system belongs to all citizens of Kosovo regardless of their national origin, ethnicity or gender.
Basic Court of Gjilan is one of the seven courts in the Republic of Kosovo. Basic Court of Gjilan has three branches: Viti, Novobërdë and Kamenica. Basic Court of Gjilan and its three branches offer easier access to the services of the court of the first instance to the population of the region under the jurisdiction of the Court in Gjilan including 167 (one hundred and sixty seven) villages.
As a court of first instance, the Basic Court of Gjilan and its three branches deal with all kinds of cases. These cases are handled by specialized departments that operate within each basic court.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Court branches in Viti, Novobërdë and Kamenica deal only with cases that are the competence of the General Department. Cases that fall under the competence of two other departments are solved by the Basic Court in Gjilan.

Basic Court in Gjilan is the main headquarter of the Gjilan Judicial Region, which covers the municipalities of:

Court branches serve as a geographical subdivision of the Basic Court and are located in Kamenicë Novobërdë and Viti. Municipality of Kamenica and Ranillug are served from the branch of Kamenica, while the municipality of Viti, Kllokot and Vërboc are served from the branch in Viti. Municipality of Novobërdë is served from its own branch, while the municipality of Gjilan and Partesh are served from the Basic Court in Gjilan.
